Today is the 11th annual Transgender Day of Awareness, a day created to commemorate transgendered and genderqueer people who have died in the past because of bigotry and hatred.  The Smith vigil was last night, but still take some time to commemorate those who have died and to raise awareness about the violence faced by people who are transgendered worldwide.

Okay, guys, so I’m kinda exhausted right now.  Instead of giving you all an elaborate events points, I’m just going to tell you what looks particularly interesting.  Here you go!

Dinner

Morrow/Wilson and Chapin are serving the best dinner tonight (though it is lacking in creativity; Tyler served the same thing on Wednesday). It’s buffalo chicken wings, blue cheese dressing, kielbasa, and cheese and pepperoni bread. Huh, doesn’t seem very coordinated either, but should be good.

Thursday

It’s open to 5 College students and members of the Northampton community and coffee, tea, and hot chocolate will be served afterwards in the Resource Center for Sexuality and Gender. Be at the Chapin Deck at 7.

Breakfast for Dinner!

You know you want it.  Just go to Chapin or Morrow/Wilson and chow down…  yum!   Includes Cheddar Cheese Quiche and Buttermilk Pancakes.

Food

Comstock/Wilder has noodle bowl! It will be excellent! Also, brownies for dessert. Be there, or have less superior food.

Also, Hubbard and Cutter/Ziskind have have “New England Boiled Dinner” which looks pretty good, though not very New England-y.

Tuesday events

This post may be lacking in events, which I can do nothing about, and enthusiasm which is mostly due to sleep deprivation. I’ll be better after Thanksgiving.

Presentation of the Museums Concentration

If you’re interested in museums, go to Graham Hall at 5 pm to learn more about Smith’s new concentration. The concentration is open to students of all majors and can be applied to different types of museums.

Lecture

Go see Filip Reyntjens of the the Universite Antwerpen of Belgium discuss “The Great African War: Congo and Regional Geopolitics.” He will examine the decade-long period of instability, violence, and state decay in central Africa. Go to Stoddard Hall Auditorium at 7:30 pm.

Indian Night

Once again, it’s Indian Night at Comstock/Wilder!  Chow down on Tandoori Chicken, Mushroom Pea Curry and Sag A Loo.  No naan, but its absence is made up for by the Cardamom Ice Cream Pie.  Delicious!

Monday

Lots of events going on today for anyone interested in environmental sciences!  It’s also International Students Day, so make sure you give your non-U.S. friends lots of appreciation and/or hugs today!  Now, here’s what’s going on:

ACADEMICS

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT DAY

  • For only $1.00, you can get your hands on some delicious bubble tea this Monday in the CC basement!  What is bubble tea?  It’s made from various types of tea mixed with large chewy tapioca pearls at the bottom that absorb flavor.  You should try it, if you’ve never had it before!  They’ll also be pre-selling tickets for CISCO’s Hot Pot Night for $5.00. Find them there from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm.
  • Run on down to the International Students Day Celebration this Monday from noon to 2:00 pm in the
